The contemporary prefab house was built with container, concrete and steel structure near Santiago, Chile. Caterpillar House by Sebastian conteiner Irarrázaval was designed and built by an artist conteiner and her family in a mountainous conteiner prospect in suburban Santiago. The house extends out of its sloping terrain, with three large shipping containers in balance with private rooms inside.
The metal walls of these sections are largely unadorned. The lower level opens to a patio with a hot tub that is just steps away from the sections that live indoors. The prefabricated container structure of this house is built to last, producing conteiner a contemporary home that surely must withstand the weather. From a visual sense and an environmental perspective, the Caterpillar House is a successful design.
