Free Spirit Magazine Blog Archive Google bets on Docker for distributed computing 40 feet
Most people who visit a site like Google or Facebook does not even have any idea of all the "machinery" that these companies have in the background, and allow these pages to appear on the screens of users in a few moments ... for millions simultaneously. Google now wants to help everyone to have easy access to the same type of system you use, supporting the Docker.
We live in a very different world than was the paradigm of computing decades ago. To time the bet was made in only machines - servers that were increasingly 40 feet powerful to meet the growing needs. 40 feet Only that the needs were going up faster than the machines were increasing power, and companies like Google soon changed the system by choosing larger amount of less powerful machines (but more economical), and soon made efficient one more important factor than just the cost of power or undifferentiated.
The problem is that when it moves from one computer to hundreds or thousands, so do all the work philosophies. How do you do that with a program or task to spread for hundreds of machines? How to deal with any faults? How to turn on and off machines as required?
The Docker is an opensource project that will facilitate a critical part of this process, allowing "box" tasks within independent containers which can then be executed by the number of machines as needed 40 feet as standard and (theoretically) compatible between multiple systems. This is precisely what companies like Google have been doing for much, and so it is no wonder that they are strong supporters of Docker - that in a few months has become one of the most technology "hot" the internet.
For most users, the Docker will continue to be something that will hardly have direct contact; but for those who have to know how things work "behind the scenes", you can be sure that many of the services in the "cloud" that we use every day, use this Docker as a way to distribute their work on the Internet.
